Methodology: Original ListMyHomes.com™ analysis of public and licensed data. For each jurisdiction we use a rounded, state-level estimate of the median ASKING monthly rent and annualize it (×12). National averages shown are the unweighted mean across the 51 jurisdictions (not population- or unit-weighted). Figures are rounded for illustration.
Data source: Median asking-rent inputs are rounded public state-level estimates compiled by ListMyHomes.com™ from publicly available rental-market data. No proprietary feed or primary survey was used.
Data-collection date: January 2026 (rounded 2026 snapshot).
Geographic scope: All 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia (51 jurisdictions).
Definitions: Median asking rent: A rounded public estimate of the typical (mid-point) advertised monthly rent in the state, across unit types. It reflects rents being ASKED on the market, not necessarily rents paid on existing leases.
Per year: The monthly figure × 12. An annualization for illustration, not a lease term.
